It is clear that the ceasefire was once again not respected, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared a short while ago during a live Facebook broadcast. At the same time, Pashinyan noted that we do not know how the US President will react to the failure of the ceasefire, and informed that after midnight he had a telephone conversation with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who said that since this is the first ceasefire for them, but the third for the parties, it is possible to roughly predict what will happen tomorrow. “I have said that in all likelihood the ceasefire will not hold, and in all likelihood Azerbaijan will say that Armenia is to blame,” observed Pashinyan.
“I do not consider it right to say what Mr. Pompeo replied. I hope that the official US representative will answer the question of whether they determined as a result of whose actions the ceasefire was violated, and if they did, what consequences that will have for the side that violated it,” the Prime Minister presented.
“Throughout this entire period we have been extremely flexible, during which we have come to the conclusion that Azerbaijan now wants not the settlement of the Karabakh question, but the surrender of Karabakh,” said the Prime Minister, adding that the Armenian people are ready even for “painful compromises,” but not for surrender under any circumstances. Therefore, according to him, the Armenian people must find means to protect their own interests, so that Azerbaijan’s demand is not the surrender of Karabakh, but a compromise.
Nikol Pashinyan again insisted that Azerbaijan was not ready, and now against the background of this military situation, is not ready for compromises.
According to the Prime Minister, every Armenian in this case must understand that the moment is critical, and the settlement of the Karabakh question depends on him. “There must be lines in front of the military commissariats 24 hours a day; today the fate of our people is being decided, and there is no better option for resolving fate than taking it into one’s own hands. As the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, I demand that every citizen of the Republic of Armenia obey my call, my decision, my order; every man must stand up right now and go to his military commissariat, this is my order,” emphasised the Prime Minister. Then, addressing women, he noted that they must tell their men — their sons and husbands — that in this situation any hesitation on anyone’s part is unforgivable.
