Film on the Armenian Genocide Among Top Five Banned Films in Turkey

The Turkish publication Sondakika.com has published a list of films banned from wide release in Turkey. In any case, Turkish audiences find ways to circumvent the ban and watch the films either online or through special private channels. Among the top five banned films is also “Ararat,” the film about the Armenian Genocide by Armenian-Canadian director Atom Egoyan. The film was shot in 2002 and shown on a private channel in Turkey in 2006. One of the leading roles in the film was played by maestro Charles Aznavour.
