Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in New Delhi to participate in the Raisina Dialogue conference, met with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on April 25.
The interlocutors discussed the progress of the implementation of the understandings reached during the Indian Foreign Minister’s visit to Armenia in the autumn of 2021. Reference was made to the prospects for the further development of relations in the fields of information technology, air transportation, education, culture, tourism and others. The sides emphasised the effectiveness of the work carried out in the past months and expressed mutual readiness to consistently continue deepening cooperation.
Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that he is visiting India accompanied by representatives of Armenia’s business and investment circles, whose meetings with their Indian counterparts will serve as an additional impetus for the revitalisation of Armenian-Indian trade and economic cooperation, which has great potential.
The Armenian side presented the situation created in the South Caucasus region and Armenia’s position regarding the processes aimed at establishing regional peace and stability, as well as the negotiations on a comprehensive peace treaty with Azerbaijan. Minister Mirzoyan expressed satisfaction with India’s position regarding the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The mediating role of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship in advancing the peace process was emphasised.
Minister Mirzoyan also presented to his interlocutor the developments in the process of normalising relations between Armenia and Turkey.
During the meeting, the Armenian Foreign Minister reaffirmed Armenia’s support for India on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
