President Armen Sarkissian received US Congressman Frank Pallone, co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues.
According to a statement from the President’s Office, Armen Sarkissian underscored the Congressman’s latest visit to Armenia and his many years of pro-Armenian activity. “You are a good friend of Armenia,” he said.
The interlocutors touched upon the agenda of Armenian-American relations. President Sarkissian in particular underscored US support in the fields of science and technology. In this context, he presented one of the presidential initiatives — ATOM (Advanced Tomorrow), which aims to bring representatives of major international companies in the information and high-technology sectors to Armenia, making the country one of the world’s leading centres in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The President noted that within the framework of this programme he would be glad to see major American companies in Armenia as well.
Reference was also made to the parliamentary system of government and the prospects for development and existing challenges under the conditions of the changes that have taken place in Armenia.
The American Congressman, it should be recalled, also visited Artsakh this week, meeting with the leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh.
