The French Senate adopted a resolution recognizing the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh by a vote of 305 in favor and 1 against. 306 members participated in the vote.
The resolution calls on the French government to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh in order to establish lasting peace in the region.
The resolution also condemns Azerbaijan’s military attack, carried out with the support of the Turkish authorities and foreign mercenaries, and calls for the immediate withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces and their supporters from the territories taken as a result of the military operations that began on September 27.
The resolution was introduced by five senators: Bruno Retailleau, Patrick Kanner, Hervé Marseille, Éliane Assassi and Guillaume Gontard.
