The Central Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party announces with deep sorrow the passing of Comrade Kevork Mantosyan (born 1934, Jerusalem), one of the ADL’s long-time leaders, former member of the Central Board, and a meritorious and faithful party member, which occurred on Sunday, 17 October 2021, in Los Angeles.

Having joined the ranks of the ADL at a young age, the deceased comrade actively participated throughout his life, first as a member of the ADL youth unions and later as a faithful party member, starting from his birthplace, Jerusalem, where he joined the Armenian Young Men’s Union (AYMU), then in Jordan, as a member of the National Athletic Union (NAU), and then in Beirut and the United States, where for decades he was one of the leading figures of the ADL’s Los Angeles chapter.

Comrade Mantosyan held leadership positions for years within the ADL’s Western chapter, first as chairman and then as a member of the Regional Board; he was also a member of the ADL Central Board, a member of the Board of the TMM Los Angeles branch, and vice-chairman of the TMM Central Board of the United States and Canada.

As a national figure, he was a member of the Homenetmen Union and served as church warden of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Pasadena. He also had a significant role in the construction of the Montebello Martyrs’ Monument dedicated to the memory of the Genocide. In addition, he was one of the main actors in the founding of the Arshak Tigranyan School and, after the school was brought to life, in its administrative work, serving as chairman of the school’s board of trustees.

As a faithful adherent and devotee of the ADL’s ideological values, the lamented comrade served the Armenian nation through the party and worked for the sake of our people and homeland, for which he was awarded the high honor of the “St. Sahak – St. Mesrop” medal of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

On this sad occasion, in the name of the Central Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party and the entire membership, we express our deepest condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and party and union comrades.

Incense and prayer to his bright memory.
Eternal light and peace to his soul.
