The Human Rights Defender has published new evidence from the Azerbaijani President’s speech as a manifestation of Armenophobia.
In the statement of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, in particular, it is noted:
«These are excerpts from the speech of the President of Azerbaijan at the 7th congress of the “New Azerbaijan” party on March 5, 2021. This speech forces one to ask a direct question: who is actually speaking the language of fascism, and how is peace to be possible under these conditions, when the country’s president proudly emphasizes that an entire generation has been filled with hatred toward Armenia and its population.
“The young generation has grown up (…) with a feeling of hatred toward the enemy, and it is that very young generation that liberated our lands from the occupiers.”
“Now Armenia is in an isolated state, while we have built very effective friendly, warm relations with our neighbours, and that too was preparation. I want to say openly: if work had not been carried out in this sphere, difficulties could have arisen in the Second Karabakh War. And Armenia isolated itself. That is, we isolated them from all regional projects, from oil and gas programmes; we have destroyed their economy and can proudly say so. Any independent economic expert can say that we are the main factor in that. We turned Armenia into an uncertain, unstable country with no future. Demographic problems arose there, which led to a restriction of the economic market.”
“Now Armenia is trying to hinder the operation of the Zangezur corridor, but they will not succeed. We will achieve all our goals, just as we drove them out of our lands.”
For highly professional expert analysis and translation of all the materials, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia expresses gratitude to the specialists of the Department of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University, in particular to Director Ruben Melkonyan (Melkonyan Ruben) and lecturer Mariam Melkonyan (Mariam Melkonyan)».
