The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has sent a letter to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, according to the government’s information service. The letter reads as follows:
“Dear Mr. President,
It is with regret that I must inform you that I will not be able to participate in the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. As you know, I had gladly accepted your invitation to take part in the ceremonial events. However, as later became clear, the existing epidemic situation does not permit me to undertake this journey. In view of this, I decided to refrain from my visit to Moscow, which, as you are aware, was discussed in detail and agreed upon between our staffs.
It would have been a great honour for me to be present at the jubilee parade. I am confident that millions of citizens of our countries will follow that solemn event, mentally returning to the distant year of 1945, when our grandfathers marched across Red Square with proud steps. The Victory in the Great Patriotic War is our common heritage. The memory of it unites our peoples and creates an unshakeable foundation for the friendship of future generations.
I look forward to our upcoming meeting, which will provide an opportunity to discuss the issues on the agenda of the allied relations between our countries:
Please accept, Mr. President, my best wishes for good health and success in your endeavours.”
