In Almaty, Protesters Storm the City Hall Building and Seize the Presidential Residence

Today, on 5 January, in Almaty, protesters have seized the residence of Kazakhstan’s president. This was reported by the zakon.kz website, as conveyed by Armenpress. Earlier, media had reported that several thousand protesters were attempting to storm the residence’s grounds, TASS reported. On the same day, in Almaty, protesters stormed the city hall building. Those gathered were armed with sticks and shields. Eyewitnesses confirmed that protesters attempted to attack the building of Almaty’s city administration. It is also reported that a fire broke out in the building of Almaty’s city administration, which protesters had entered.
