We had previously reported that the Artsakh body of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party had recently convened an extraordinary congress, at the end of which it was decided to participate in the upcoming Presidential-Parliamentary elections to be held during the coming month of March.
According to the Artsakh source of “Ramgavar Mamoul”, as was anticipated, the “New Artsakh” alliance was formed today, on the basis of which the ADL body will support the candidacy of Masis Mayilyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, for the office of President of Artsakh.
Below we present the communiqué published on this occasion by the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party operating in Artsakh, “Independent Artsakh” and the “Identity and Unity” party.
On 29 January, a joint session of the governing bodies of three Artsakh political forces — the Artsakh Armenian Democratic Liberal, “Identity and Unity” and “Tomorrow’s Artsakh” parties — was held at the “Europa” hotel in Stepanakert, where the issue of forming a pre-election alliance was discussed.
Let us recall that the extraordinary congress of the “Identity and Unity” party took place on 23 January, that of the “Tomorrow’s Artsakh” party on 25 January, and that of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party on 26 January. At the extraordinary congresses, the format of participation of the said political forces in the upcoming nationwide elections was clarified. The congresses confirmed the decisions of the parties’ governing bodies regarding the formation of a pre-election alliance composed of the three parties and supporting Masis Mayilyan in the presidential elections.
The joint session of the governing bodies of the three political forces, reaffirming the positions of the party congresses, formed the “Mayilyan – New Artsakh” pre-election alliance, which will support Masis Mayilyan in the presidential elections. The latter will also head the alliance’s proportional list in the parliamentary elections.
At the joint session, representatives of the three parties delivered speeches. They emphasised the role and significance of the upcoming nationwide elections in forming a new quality of governance to confront the country’s internal and external challenges, improving public life, protecting the rights of the individual and the citizen, being guided exclusively by state interest in solving the problems present within the state, and the necessity of broad consolidation of the political and social forces needed to emerge from the situation created in the country.
Masis Mayilyan addressed the participants of the joint session with a greeting. Expressing deep gratitude for the high trust, he noted, in particular: “This alliance of ours shall serve as a powerful impetus for vigorous and decisive activity aimed at the broad consolidation of the healthy forces of the public for the purpose of discussing and adopting programmes of radical reforms in Artsakh. I do not doubt for a single moment that through the results of the reforms, we shall jointly secure our country’s safe, prosperous, reliable, just, civilised and democratic future — in a word, we shall build our New Artsakh.”
M. Mayilyan expects that there will be close cooperation around the axis of the alliance with the most diverse strata of the Artsakh public and with individuals and public figures who enjoy the trust and respect of the public.
