On 29 October, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Abbas Araghchi, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, who had arrived in Yerevan on a working visit.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the situation created in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, and on issues of regional security. Both sides expressed concern over the transfer of international terrorists from the Middle East to the region, viewing this as a serious threat to the entire region.
Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan stressed that Armenia understands Iran’s sensitivities regarding new threats to regional security and emphasized Iran’s role in maintaining stability and peace in the region.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Araghchi presented his country’s approaches to overcoming the current situation and establishing a ceasefire regime. In this context, Armenia’s Foreign Minister noted that Iran’s approaches to the Artsakh issue will be studied in detail.
In turn, Armenia’s Foreign Minister informed the interlocutor about the meeting with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in Geneva on 30 October and about continuing the work in that format.
