Ishkhan Saghatelyan, the candidate nominated by the “Armenia” faction, was elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly after the third round of voting.
103 deputies participated in the vote. 64 deputies voted in favor of Saghatelyan’s candidacy, 37 against, and 2 ballots were declared invalid.
103 deputies had participated in the second round of voting. 49 deputies had voted in favor of Saghatelyan’s candidacy, 49 against, and 5 ballots were declared invalid.
During the first round of voting, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, secretary of the “Civil Contract” faction, had announced that their faction would participate in the election of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, ensuring the necessary minimum number of votes so that Ishkhan Saghatelyan would be elected.
104 deputies had participated in the vote, and one ballot was declared invalid. 53 deputies had voted in favor of Saghatelyan’s candidacy, and 50 against.
Hayk Konjoryan, head of the Civil Contract faction, had stated that there were also deputies from the opposition who voted against or whose ballots were declared invalid.
Three deputies of the “Armenia” faction had not participated in the vote: Mkhtar Zakaryan and Artur Sargsyan are under arrest, while Davit Sedrakyan, according to the faction, was absent for a valid reason.
Days earlier, the National Assembly had elected the other two candidates for Deputy Speaker — Civil Contract members Ruben Rubinyan and Hagop Arshakyan.
