One of the problems with the implementation of the deployment of Russian border guards along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is the lack of international legal formalities. This was stated by Alexander Bikantov, Deputy Director of the Department of Press and Information of the Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the proposal of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He noted that Russia is seriously concerned about the recent armed incidents in certain sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“What is particularly alarming is that they are resulting in casualties on both sides. Unfortunately, despite the steps taken, tensions on the border have not yet subsided. In this regard, I call on the parties to avoid actions that are fraught with further tension. All issues must be resolved exclusively through peaceful diplomatic means. Russia is ready to continue contributing to the settlement of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border,” he said.
