On 21 December, Armenia’s Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan provided clarifications via video link to the parents and relatives of the servicemen who fell into Azerbaijani captivity in the Hin Tagher-Khtsaberd section of the Republic of Artsakh.
As reported by the RA Defense Ministry’s Department of Information and Public Relations, the Defense Minister stated that everything possible is being done for the speedy resolution of the issue.
In particular, according to Vagharshak Harutyunyan, the list of the 62 captive servicemen has already been handed to the International Committee of the Red Cross, and their personal files have been sent to the European Court of Human Rights. The issue is also at the center of attention of the leadership of the Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed in Artsakh.
Vagharshak Harutyunyan assured the servicemen’s relatives that the Defense Ministry is doing its utmost to return the captive servicemen to the Homeland, and that there are no divergent interpretations on this matter. Both the servicemen’s relatives and the Defense Ministry share one main goal: to return all our servicemen who have fallen into captivity to the Homeland, safe and sound, as soon as possible.
