Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met in Brussels with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană. Issues related to regional security were discussed.
Ararat Mirzoyan presented the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and in Nagorno-Karabakh, the cases of ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan, the actions aimed at creating a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the facts of psychological pressure exerted on the civilian population.
Ararat Mirzoyan also discussed with Mircea Geoană the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey.
In his speech at the North Atlantic Council, Mirzoyan touched upon Armenia-NATO cooperation over the past 30 years, the consequences of Azerbaijan’s attack on Artsakh in 2020, the humanitarian issues requiring urgent solutions, particularly the Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan and the issue of access of international organizations to Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Foreign Minister also touched upon in his speech the prospects and possibilities of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, the negotiations on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan without preconditions, as well as issues related to a number of international and regional security topics.
