On 3 March, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, on a working visit to New Delhi, had a meeting with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The interlocutors exchanged views on issues on the Armenia-EU partnership agenda. Both sides stressed the deployment of the EU civilian monitoring mission in Armenia, which officially launched its activities on 20 February.
Regional and international security issues were addressed. Ararat Mirzoyan also presented to his interlocutor the latest developments in the process of regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
Referring to the humanitarian situation created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin corridor, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasised the imperative of unblocking the Lachin corridor without preconditions, in accordance with the provisions of the 9 November 2020 statement. In this context, the active involvement of the international community was stressed, so that Azerbaijan implements the legally binding decision of the International Court of Justice of 22 February regarding the application of provisional measures.
