On 27 February, within the framework of the high-level session of the UN Human Rights Council, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi. This was reported by the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the further development of the cooperation established between Armenia and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Filippo Grandi addressed the humanitarian problems created by the 44-day war of 2020 and Azerbaijan’s attacks against the sovereign territory of the RA, emphasising the urgency of addressing them. In this context, issues of support for persons displaced during the aforementioned events were discussed.
During the meeting, the need to resolve the difficult humanitarian situation created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the blockade of the Lachin corridor was also stressed. Minister Mirzoyan emphasised the dispatch of an international fact-finding mission to the Lachin corridor and Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the unimpeded humanitarian access of relevant UN bodies, including the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees, to Nagorno-Karabakh.
