Mirzoyan Draws NATO Official’s Attention to Situation Created by War Unleashed Against Artsakh with Turkey’s Participation

On October 21, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan received Javier Colomina Piriz, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia. As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of political dialogue existing between Armenia and NATO. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan as an effective tool for the development of RA-NATO cooperation. Javier Colomina Piriz noted that Armenia is considered a reliable partner of the North Atlantic Alliance. Reference was made to the continued involvement of Armenian peacekeeping units in international peacekeeping missions.

On October 21, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan received Javier Colomina Piriz, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.

As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of political dialogue existing between Armenia and NATO. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan as an effective tool for the development of RA-NATO cooperation. Javier Colomina Piriz noted that Armenia is considered a reliable partner of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Reference was made to the continued involvement of Armenian peacekeeping units in international peacekeeping missions. It is noted that Javier Colomina Piriz expressed gratitude for Armenia’s participation in NATO peacekeeping operations.

Minister Mirzoyan also emphasized the implementation of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on “Women, Peace and Security” and, in that regard, the implementation of the National Action Plan by the Government of Armenia.

During the meeting, issues related to international and regional security were discussed. Minister Mirzoyan drew his interlocutor’s attention to the situation created by the war unleashed against Artsakh by Azerbaijan with Turkey’s participation. In this context, he stressed the necessity of a lasting and comprehensive settlement of the Artsakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

The parties also recorded the importance of upholding the principle of non-use of force for the purpose of settling disputes.
