Mr. Zareh Sinanyan, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, had a cordial meeting with colleagues Alexan Garatanayan and Hayk Lepejian, members of the Central Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party. This meeting, held on Wednesday, June 7, took place at the Commissioner’s central office on Vazgen Sargsyan Street in the capital city of Yerevan.
Colleague Alexan Garatanayan, who is the Vice-Chairman of the Central Board, is also the Party’s Commissioner for Armenia. As for colleague Hayk Lepejian, in addition to being a member of the Central Board, he is the long-serving and distinguished Chairman of the ADL’s Regional Board of Australia.
During the meeting, the need for the continued strengthening of Homeland-Diaspora ties was brought into focus, particularly to ensure the sustained contribution of the professional potential of Armenians abroad to the development and empowerment of Armenia’s institutional system.
Special attention was also given to the importance of the two-week courses of the “Diaspora Youth Ambassador” program, to be held in Yerevan from September 24 to October 7. As is well known, this program aims to create a platform that will broaden Diaspora Armenian youth’s understanding of Armenia’s political, social, economic and other issues. The program also seeks to serve as an impetus for members of our new generation abroad to support the community life of the countries where they reside, and, through more effective participation, to contribute to raising the efficiency of activities, as well as to the transfer of new knowledge and skills. One of the main goals is also the solid formation of cooperation among the youth of the Diaspora, Armenia and Artsakh, and its consistent development.
