The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, by a closed secret ballot, stripped Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia faction, of his parliamentary immunity. Eighty-seven deputies voted in favor of giving consent to initiate criminal prosecution against Tsarukyan; there were no votes against.
The results were announced by the chairman of the counting commission, Vahagn Hovakimyan. Eighty-seven deputies participated in the vote, and none of the ballots were deemed invalid.
The motion to give consent to initiate criminal prosecution against Gagik Koliayi Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party and a deputy, was presented at the June 15 session of the National Assembly by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Artur Davtyan.
The Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions had announced that they would not participate in the vote.
