Thanks to operational-intelligence measures undertaken by the National Security Service of the Republic of Artsakh, it has been established that a citizen of the Republic of Artsakh, a serviceman of military unit N of the Defense Army, came to the attention of foreign special services in July 2021 and was recruited by them, undertaking to collect and hand over to foreign special services information constituting state and official secrets of a military nature in exchange for payment.
“Carrying out his criminal activity, the latter collected and, through various mobile applications used by him, handed over to a representative of a foreign special service information of a military nature constituting state and official secrets, in particular concerning his place of service, the direction, type and quantity of his unit, available weaponry, command staff, combat positions and combat duty, thereby committing high treason to the detriment of the territorial integrity and external security of the Republic of Artsakh.
The aforementioned person has been charged, and by court decision detention has been applied as a preventive measure against him.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal procedure is ongoing.
The National Security Service of the Republic of Artsakh once again urges citizens of the Republic of Artsakh to immediately inform the competent authorities about being recruited by foreign special services or receiving an offer of cooperation, in order to exclude discussing with them issues related to the security and defense of the Republic of Artsakh and the transfer of information, as well as to take appropriate measures.
