New Year non-working days to be reduced: new decision

The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia today, on 27 October, adopted in the first reading the government-submitted draft law, which proposes to designate only 31 December, 1 and 6 January as non-working days during the New Year holidays. 53 deputies voted in favour of the draft law, 16 deputies were against, and 3 abstained. Vahan Kerobyan, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia who presented the draft, had assured that with the reduction of non-working days, the GDP will rise and trade will grow. The opposition “Armenia” faction has proposed to also leave 2 and 7 January as non-working days.

Let us recall that under the current law, the period from 31 December to 1-7 January is non-working.
