“No negotiations are currently being conducted for the regulation of relations between Armenia and Turkey,” the Armenian foreign policy department informed today, September 13, in response to a question from “Azatutyun.”
“Azatutyun” had specifically inquired of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs whether official negotiations were being envisaged for the regulation of Armenian-Turkish relations.
“In response to your inquiry, we state that contacts between the diplomats of Armenia and Turkey are limited to participation in discussions in a multilateral format on various issues of the international agenda,” the MFA response said.
Recently, Ankara and Yerevan have been regularly exchanging letters regarding the regulation of bilateral relations. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had said that Ankara is ready to regulate relations with Yerevan on the basis of good neighbourliness and mutual recognition of territorial integrity. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in response, had declared that Armenia is ready for dialogue with Turkey.
