We are doing what we can to bring the two sides back to the negotiating table under the Minsk Group, because we believe the issue must be resolved through negotiations. US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy said this on 11 September during a conversation with journalists, referring to the settlement of the Artsakh issue.
“Secretary Blinken has articulated this commitment of ours on many different occasions. And, of course, the situation of 30 years of war and tension cannot be resolved overnight. But there are substantive things that we prioritize, and as I mentioned, we do not consider the status of Nagorno-Karabakh to be resolved, and it will remain on the Minsk Group’s agenda,” she said.
The Ambassador noted that the Armenian government has clearly stated that it will not move to broader discussions until the issue of prisoners is resolved: “As you know, the United States has taken certain steps, our Russian partners have also made efforts, and we have had some success. We hope that we will reach a point where all prisoners will return.”
