The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, treating the uncompromising fight against manifestations of corruption as a priority, has uncovered a case of receiving a particularly large bribe through intelligence measures and investigative actions undertaken within the scope of functions vested in it by law. This was reported to Armenpress by the NSS press centre.
In particular, factual data have been obtained that in 2009, the official heading the Yerevan community, through the mediation of his brother, received a particularly large bribe of 75,000 US dollars in installments during 2009, including through officials of the municipality, from the founder of an organisation constructing an apartment building in the city, in order to perform actions in his favour, remove obstacles related to the resumption of suspended construction, and increase taxation, and with the aim of providing a final solution to the problems, he also demanded that an apartment with an area of 200 m² be allocated in the building under construction for the needs of the Yerevan municipality.
A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department of the NSS of the Republic of Armenia regarding the apparent crime under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
