The statue of Hovhannes Tumanyan in Rome is to be placed in the garden adjacent to Italy’s presidential Quirinale Palace. This was reported in response to an inquiry by Armenpress by the Department of Information and Public Diplomacy of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the preliminary agreement, it will be a bust. The author and the material from which the bust will be made have not yet been determined, taking into account the fact that, at the Italian side’s request, the statue must meet certain standards. It has not yet been clarified whether the statue will be made in Armenia or Italy. Work is underway to install the bust during 2020.
As for the installation of Komitas’s statue in Milan, that idea is at the stage of preliminary discussion, and other details are not yet known.
