In the first half of 2019, the Republic of Armenia was visited by a total of 1 million 679 thousand people, of whom 770 thousand were tourists.
According to Armenpress, this was stated to journalists by the chair of the Tourism Committee of the RA Ministry of Economy, Susanna Safaryan.
“In total, compared to the same period of 2018, the number of visits has increased by 12.3 percent. Tourist visits have increased by 12.1 percent.
In 2018, 3.7 million people arrived in Armenia, of whom 1.5 million were tourists.
Persons who are not citizens of the RA are considered tourists. People mainly visit Armenia from neighbouring countries and countries with large Armenian communities — from Russia, Georgia, the United States, Iran, Germany and other countries,” Safaryan noted.
According to her, they are working to make it possible to attract more tourists from European countries to Armenia.
