Pashinyan Appointed Prime Minister of Armenia

By decree signed by President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, Nikol Pashinyan was again appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. “Based on Part 1 of Article 149 of the Constitution, appoint Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister,” the document states. Let us recall: after the term of the newly elected National Assembly begins, the President of the Republic of Armenia immediately appoints as Prime Minister the candidate presented by the parliamentary majority formed in accordance with the procedure defined by Article 89 of the Constitution. By decree signed by President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, Nikol Pashinyan was again appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

“Based on Part 1 of Article 149 of the Constitution, appoint Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister,” the document states.

Let us recall: after the term of the newly elected National Assembly begins, the President of the Republic of Armenia immediately appoints as Prime Minister the candidate presented by the parliamentary majority formed in accordance with the procedure defined by Article 89 of the Constitution. And since the majority in the National Assembly is made up of deputies elected on the list of the “Civil Contract” party, they had put forward the candidacy of Nikol Pashinyan.
