The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, called on all political forces to cease all protest gatherings and acts of disobedience and to begin consultations on resolving the situation.
Nikol Pashinyan said this today, during a speech delivered at a rally convened on the Republic Square. “I expect that the President of the Republic of Armenia signs the decree dismissing the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan, or Onik Gasparyan himself announces his resignation, and I will begin consultations with the political forces on how we resolve this situation,” said Pashinyan.
Pashinyan stressed that he is ready for consultations also with the political forces that voice the sharpest criticism of the authorities.
Pashinyan added that Armenia is a democratic country and the will of the people must be fulfilled. “A change of government must take place only through elections — whether early or regular, we will decide that together. We have no enemies in the Republic of Armenia; they are all our brothers. Some want to provoke a clash; there will be no clash. I will also carry the pain of the people gathered in that square. They, nothing, let them consider me a traitor,” noted Pashinyan.
