The Collective Security Treaty Organization has strategic significance for Armenia. This was stated by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting in Yerevan with the heads of parliaments of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states.
“We believe that the CSTO is the main factor of stability and security in our region, and we attach great importance to all three directions of our cooperation within the CSTO framework. First of all, that is foreign policy coordination, military-technical cooperation and, of course, our common approach to common threats in the security sphere. Of course, unfortunately, threats are also changing, and we must respond to them. Of course, our organization must correspond to modern regional and global realities. And I am very glad that we are cooperating quite constructively in the direction of the further development of the organization,” said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that the organization’s member countries have managed to reach an agreement on the issue of appointing the organization’s Secretary General, and noted that in order to avoid such problems in the future, certain legal changes need to be introduced in the CSTO regulations.
