The issue of extending the mandate of Russian peacekeepers on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border was touched upon during the CSTO summit, and the Russian Federation will continue to participate in the settlement, said Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“This topic was touched upon, quite frankly, very directly, constructively; not everything has been agreed yet, there are certain nuances, but this topic is on the agenda,” he told journalists.
Peskov stressed that the Russian side welcomes all possible efforts that lead to a peaceful settlement.
“But Russia continues to play a very important role. All of Russia’s proposals have been recorded by Yerevan and Baku. And we will continue to provide our services to the extent that the countries need those services,” Peskov said.
He also added that the CSTO’s services have been requested.
Peskov recalled that after the escalation of the situation on the border, a delegation of authorized representatives was sent to prepare a report.
“That was also discussed yesterday by the foreign ministers, and it was discussed today as well; the conversation on this topic continues,” he said.
