Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today, on April 29, received the delegation that arrived from the Republic of Artsakh, headed by President Arayik Harutyunyan.
In his remarks, he noted in particular that both before and after the 44-day war, Armenia has always coordinated its work with Artsakh.
“We have considered it important that the Artsakh authorities be fully informed about our programs and plans, including the content and course of the negotiations regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the challenges and opportunities. This principle has always been maintained, and will continue to be so.
You know, I sometimes think there is no need to place special emphasis on this, because it is such a logical fact that emphasizing it may even sometimes be superfluous. But I want to state once again that the number one beneficiary of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is Artsakh and the people of Artsakh. And, consequently, content that is negotiated and implemented in secret is simply illogical, and imagining such a thing is simply impossible. This is why we are always in personal contact with you, Mr. President. Our other colleagues also work in parallel with their Artsakh counterparts,” he said.
Addressing the President of Artsakh, Nikol Pashinyan stated: “I consider important and highly value a statement you made recently, to the effect that the Artsakh authorities, too, are in essence adopting the peace agenda. And I want to say that the peace agenda is by no means an agenda of defeat.
The peace agenda is an agenda for overcoming the calamity of war and the difficulties that followed the war, for guaranteeing the security, rights and future of the people. And I must say that as a result of very hard and difficult work, I must state today that I see the path, and moreover, I see the sequence of steps that should lead us to the point we constantly speak of, discuss and have voiced. That is, the guarantee of the security and rights of the people of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh, and, as I have said before, there is a very important principle that an Artsakh resident should live in Artsakh, consider himself an Artsakh resident, a Karabakh resident and an Armenian. And this is the agenda that we must advance together,” Pashinyan stated.
