Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz has highly praised Armenia’s decision to open an embassy in Tel Aviv.
He described this as a “significant step in the development of bilateral relations between the two countries,” reported The Jerusalem Post.
According to Katz, Armenia will become the 90th country to open an embassy in Israel, which “testifies to the continued strengthening of Israel’s position in the world.”
Israel’s Foreign Ministry official spokesman Nizar Amer, for his part, stated that the opening of the embassy reflects a significant improvement in relations between the two countries that has taken place over the past year. “The opening of the embassy is a new and important point in bilateral relations, and we are confident that it will further strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and cooperation between the countries in all fields,” Amer noted.
It is worth recalling that at the 19 September session of the Armenian government, a decision was adopted to open an embassy in Tel Aviv in the shortest possible time (end of 2019 – beginning of 2020).
