Pre-military training in schools needs serious revision: Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport

The subject of pre-military training in schools needs serious revision. This was stated by Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan during the preliminary discussions of the 2020 state budget in the National Assembly. The subject of pre-military training in schools needs serious revision. This was stated by Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan during the preliminary discussions of the 2020 state budget in the National Assembly.

According to him, in the ministry he heads, they want this subject to be taught not in the limited space of school classrooms, but in the conditions of real military barracks and field camps.

“Now we are studying the infrastructure that exists in Armenia, as well as the experience of a number of schools, particularly the ‘Kwant’ school, which conducts a two-week course on its camp grounds, and, in essence, the children complete the entire course there. It includes both the practical and theoretical parts,” said the minister, adding that it requires a serious financial impact.
