Turkish politicians cannot come to terms with the adoption of the Armenian Genocide recognition resolution by the US House of Representatives. The scale of the nervous breakdown has reached the point where one Turkish politician has proposed naming children after the criminals who perpetrated the Armenian Genocide.
He called that proposal a worthy “response.” Moreover, he is not troubled by the fact that Turkish children (even girls) will bear the names of men who are “known” in world history as the organisers of the first genocide and as military criminals.
Representative of the nationalist “Good Party” Tavuz Ağıralioğlu has proposed that children in Turkey be named in honour of Enver, Cemal and Talat Pashas.
After the First World War, the court for military crimes in Constantinople found Enver and Talat Pashas guilty of organising the mass killing of Armenians.
“We respond to that decision by naming our children Enver, Cemal and Talat,” said Ağıralioğlu, adding that if that “impropriety continues, then everyone should know that their children, including girls, will be named in honour of Talat.”
It should be noted that Talat had confessed in his memoirs that he ordered the killing of Armenians “for the benefit of the Turkish people.”
