Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a meeting with the Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.
Georgia’s spiritual leader welcomed Prime Minister Pashinyan’s official visit and expressed confidence that it would contribute to the further development of Armenian-Georgian ties. “We live in difficult times, but we must overcome these difficulties together. I hope that the relations between our churches will continue to be brotherly and will contribute to the further development of cooperation between the two peoples,” said Ilia II.
Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the warm reception and noted that he first met Ilia II in June 2018, of which he has kept warm memories. “During this period, much positive has been recorded in our relations; we have managed to ensure that the relations between the two countries continue to develop,” said the Prime Minister. He emphasized that the two peoples’ commitment to the Christian value system also plays a major role in political relations. “Your contribution is great in that work, and for that I wish to express my gratitude,” said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister added that it is the task of the two countries’ governments to achieve real changes through close cooperation and to further strengthen cooperation in various fields.
Before the meeting with the Patriarch of All Georgia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan laid a wreath at the memorial on Heroes’ Square in Tbilisi and paid tribute.
