The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia yesterday began his visit to the Vayots Dzor Province from the community of Rind. Before proceeding to his speech, those present observed a minute of silence in honor of the heroes who fell in the 44-day Artsakh war.
“We are living through very difficult times, and the most important question is how we must overcome this grief, this burden, this blow. My answer to that question is one: through work. We must rebuild our country through work,” the Prime Minister told those present. He also addressed the question of how the country’s security is to be protected.
“Our country’s security system is based on the Armenian-Russian strategic and military-political alliance. Purely for security considerations, we have a joint force group with Russia and a unified air defense system in the Caucasus region. The logic of those treaties is that an attack on the Republic of Armenia means an attack on the Russian Federation.
Now many people are asking why that system did not work during the Artsakh war the way our people would have wanted. There is a simple reason for that, dear people. In essence, that system extends over those borders of the Republic of Armenia which the Republic of Armenia defined by the 2010 law on administrative-territorial division.
They say that Azerbaijanis are stationed east of Shurnukh. For a very simple reason, because in 2010 the law on administrative-territorial division was adopted, which states that east of Shurnukh is the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
