Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the delegation headed by Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, head of the France-Armenia Friendship Group of the French Senate.
The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation’s visit to Armenia and highly appreciated their contribution to the development and strengthening of Armenian-French relations. Nikol Pashinyan added that the legislative and executive bodies of the two countries cooperate closely, and the friendship group’s role in this is also significant. “Your visits to our country impart a great and positive impetus to the continued strengthening of the Armenian-French partnership,” said Prime Minister Pashinyan.
Gilbert-Luc Devinaz expressed gratitude for the warm reception and stressed that they will continue to direct their efforts toward the development of bilateral partnership. “We will continue to stand by Armenia and Artsakh,” said the head of the France-Armenia Friendship Group of the French Senate, recalling that the resolution aimed at recognizing the independence of Artsakh received broad support from senators in the French Senate.
Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the resolution adopted by the Senate has enormous political significance, imparting great strength and confidence in the realm of international recognition of the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh.
During the meeting, reference was made to ensuring the return of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and other detained civilians still held in Azerbaijan, the situation created around Nagorno-Karabakh, humanitarian issues, as well as questions relating to the development of democracy in Armenia.
