Prominent Istanbul-Armenian journalist compares fall of Kabul to conquest of Constantinople

Sevan Nishanyan, an Istanbul-Armenian writer, journalist and linguist, has commented on the events that took place in Afghanistan. This is reported by Ermenihaber.am, citing Yeniakit. Commenting on the seizure of control over Afghanistan by the radical organization “Taliban,” Nishanyan stated that the American authorities are to blame for all of this. In his words, the US had for years wanted to see a pro-American government in Afghanistan. Nishanyan then compared the Taliban’s seizure of control over Kabul to the conquest of Constantinople, when the capital of Byzantium fell in 1453.
