Restrictions on the free movement of people in Armenia are to be lifted from May 4, while the ban on public transport will remain in place. At a press conference, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Varos Simonyan stated this, presenting the new package of changes that is to take effect from May 4.
“In particular, the restrictions on free movement are to be lifted, meaning that all citizens will have the right to move freely throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia. At the same time, the ban on public transport will remain in place. It will remain because there are certain risk-related approaches concerning the spread of the pandemic,” Simonyan said.
Under this package, almost all restrictions are to be lifted, with some restrictions remaining regarding types of economic activity. In particular, these restrictions will apply to retail and wholesale trade. There will be almost no restrictions in retail and wholesale trade; only the restriction on the venues where trade is conducted will remain. That is, malls and department stores will remain closed. Only the food and grocery stores operating within their premises, pharmacies, as well as agricultural produce markets will operate.
The processing industry will open with all types of activity. Restaurants, cafés and bars that have outdoor spaces will operate. Botanical and zoological gardens and specially protected natural areas will also open, and the operation of reserves will likewise be permitted.
The operation of sports facilities will be permitted exclusively with the participation of professional athletes for the conduct of sporting events, as well as the operation of sports clubs. Personal services, including laundry, cleaning and dry-cleaning services, hairdressers and beauty salons, will also be permitted from May 4.
