Visit Artsakh, visit even if only so that the 100,000 Armenians living in Artsakh do not feel alone — by your presence you will strengthen and inspire the Armenian living in Artsakh to keep Artsakh Armenian forever, wrote Artsakh Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan on his Facebook page.
We present the post below:
“Dear compatriots, dear Armenians, dear people,
Seven months have passed since the day our 30-year reality completely changed its form; at this time every year, for our compatriots living in the Republic of Armenia, in the Diaspora, and for foreigners, these were times to discover Artsakh, to enjoy the unspoiled purity of nature, to partake of the centuries-old Armenian and Christian culture. A country living under the constant threat of war at the same time imparted peace of soul to each one, binding them forever to this land.
Much has changed… Today there are many difficulties in Artsakh; the consequences of the war have in some ways deprived Artsakh of its former charm, but never of its meaning and profound substance.
We have passed through the cruelties of war; during 44 days we saw and felt all human and inhuman suffering and, unfortunately, we continue to feel it even today…
But we are here, in the same place, with the hope of standing again… Together with all of you…
Visit Artsakh, visit even if only so that the 100,000 Armenians living in Artsakh do not feel alone — by your presence you will strengthen and inspire the Armenian living in Artsakh, so that Artsakh remains Armenian forever.
I know that you have concerns regarding security related to visiting Artsakh, you have concerns regarding the road, a section of which you are forced, restraining your anger, to see captive Shushi; there are difficulties regarding the deadlines for providing entry permits to Artsakh for our compatriots from the Diaspora, but all this must be overcome for the sake of the supreme goal, for the sake of not losing Artsakh.
Rise up and come, they are waiting for you here…”
