Acting Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan sees no grounds to declare the election results invalid. As reported by Armenpress, Badasyan stated this during a conversation with journalists after the government meeting, referring to the applications submitted to the Constitutional Court by the opposition.
He noted that he will be the representative of the “Civil Contract” party in the Constitutional Court. “We can do a simple exercise — we can open the OSCE/ODIHR preliminary conclusions, read what assessment is given to the elections, and compare them with the assessments of the elections held in 2017 or before. And there you will see what a significant difference there is in those assessments. The latest elections were in line with the best standards of democracy, were held in fair competition, and everyone had opportunities. If you open the report on the 2017 elections and look at the assessments there, it speaks of the abuse of administrative resources, of outside influences on the elections, including at polling stations. Regarding these elections, on the contrary, there are many positive emphases; the elections held in both 2018 and 2020 were highly assessed by all international organisations,” the acting minister observed.
In Rustam Badasyan’s view, we should all congratulate each other on the occasion of these elections, because this is not the achievement of the authorities, not the achievement of the opposition, but the achievement of all citizens.
