Turkey’s aspirations in the region have clearly increased. Ensuring the security of the Armenian people in the region has been and remains a key direction of our foreign policy. This was stated by RA Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan during a session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, during which the current challenges of regional and Eurasian integration in post-war Armenia were discussed.

“The unresolved nature of the Karabakh conflict continues to be one of the key regional challenges. The consequences of the use of force against Artsakh by Azerbaijan, with Turkey’s support and direct participation, and the seizure of part of Artsakh’s territories cannot be considered conflict resolution. Only a politically negotiated settlement that respects everyone’s rights and determines the final status of Artsakh can be considered the end of the conflict,” the minister noted.

An environment conducive to peace must first be formed, and its preconditions are not visible on the Azerbaijani side, as evidenced by the non-fulfillment of the humanitarian section of the November 9 trilateral statement, which is expressed in the creation of obstacles to the repatriation of prisoners.

“At the same time, our position remains unchanged: the Minsk Group co-chairmanship is the only internationally recognized format for the settlement of the Karabakh issue, and we will continue to support that format. In the region, we expect to see a strong co-chairmanship that can first of all ensure the content of its mandate, particularly the advancement of the peace process,” Ayvazyan noted.
