Statement of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party
“On the Matter of the Homeland’s Eternity”
The supreme aspiration of all of us as a nation is that our sisters and brothers in the homeland may always be able to enjoy a life endowed with the freedom of sovereign democracy, absolutely secure, untroubled, prosperous, dignified and energetic, such as the inhabitants of all advanced countries enjoy.
One of the preconditions of this lofty desire is, of course, that our country be perpetually free from every kind of military threat.
In this regard, in the recent history of our people, the trilateral signing of the joint declaration on August 8 at the White House of the United States was, without doubt, an event highly worthy of note.
Having studied the relevant documents made available to us, the Central Board of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party welcomes this historic initial signing of the peace agreement, which, under the present political circumstances, constitutes the best possible opportunity.
Especially commendable is the strategy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, in securing the direct mediation and participation of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in this significant process.
We are hopeful that this memorandum of understanding, which aims to be the first step toward peace, prosperity and stability in our region, will truly succeed in securing for our people vitally necessary security and a substantial improvement in the economic situation, as well as the release of all Armenian prisoners illegally held in Baku and, in particular, the return of our beloved people of Artsakh to their ancestral homeland and, until then, the provision of prompt and generous compensation.
