Armenian-American screenwriter, director and film producer Steven Zaillian has been nominated for an Oscar award. According to Armenpress, he has been nominated in the category of Best Adapted Screenplay for his screenplay of the film “Irishman.”
In 2019, renowned director Martin Scorsese filmed “The Irishman” based on Zaillian’s screenplay, commissioned by Netflix. The film has been nominated in several categories, including Best Picture. The film stars Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and others.
Zaillian was born in Fresno, California. His father, Jim Zaillian, was a radio journalist. He graduated from San Francisco State University (1975).
He is the author of screenplays for “The Falcon and the Snowman” (1985), “Awakenings” (1990), “Searching for Bobby Fischer” (1993, also director), “Schindler’s List” (1994), “Mission: Impossible” (1996, also director), “Hannibal” (2001), “Gangs of New York” (2002), “The Interpreter” (2005), “All the King’s Men” (2006) and other films.
In 1994, he won the Oscar Award for the screenplay of “Schindler’s List.” He has also been nominated three times for the Oscar Award for the screenplays of “Awakenings” (1990), “Gangs of New York” (2002) and “All the King’s Men” (2006).
