The community heads of Syunik who met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia last week still find it incomprehensible why and for what purpose Hraparak.am spread a fake “leak” favorable to the Azerbaijani side about their closed meeting with the Prime Minister, distorting reality and trying to confirm the Azerbaijani theses.
It should be noted that last week Hraparak published a news item titled “Pashinyan made a stunning statement at the meeting with Syunik community heads,” in which it was claimed that Nikol Pashinyan spoke about the “corridor-road” to be given from Syunik and about Artsakh during the meeting with the Syunik community heads, urging the community heads to come to terms with the idea that “Artsakh is Azerbaijani,” that we simply deceived ourselves for 30 years, and that the end had to be what happened.
Civic.am tried to ascertain the truth of the news from officials present at the meeting. During a conversation with the Prime Minister’s advisor and member of the interdepartmental commission on Syunik affairs, Robert Ghukasyan, the latter declared that such a thing could not have happened. “That formulation is so absurd, such a thing cannot be. Different topics were discussed, questions were raised, which, naturally, are confidential, but those news items are false. After all, all the community heads and acting officials of Syunik were present. If such a thing had happened, how, in your opinion, would they have reacted? In the end, it is impossible. Everything has its measure and limit,” said Robert Ghukasyan.
As for the corridor, Robert Ghukasyan noted that no such thing exists. “If there had been such an expression or formulation, in your opinion, would the community leaders have remained silent? It is clear, isn’t it, we all understand. There were simply many pressing questions that the Prime Minister formulated, people asked, the Prime Minister answered, and there were discussions on various questions. If the meeting had not been confidential, certain things would have been published,” said Robert Ghukasyan.
The head of the Tegh community, Davit Ghulunts, also denied these statements. “How can such a thing be? No such thing happened,” said Davit Ghulunts.
Referring to the corridor topic, the Tegh community head said: “Why is it only Hraparak that publishes such a thing, how can such a thing be? Ask Hraparak who gave them that information to publish. If no such thing happened, how can they publish such a thing, I was present — no such conversation took place.”
Within the National Assembly, the Governor of Syunik, Melikset Poghosyan, had also denied this news, noting that during the meeting with the community leaders, the Prime Minister conveyed real information to the community leaders about what the situation is and what is happening.
The head of the Tatev community, Samvel Lalayan, had addressed these circulating news items on his Facebook page. Lalayan had written: “Dear compatriots, media representatives. In recent days, a number of false and slanderous materials are circulating in the press and on social platforms to the effect that during the meeting between the Syunik community heads and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the Syunik community heads gave their consent to the surrender of territories from Syunik to our enemy.”
