According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, told him about the positive results of the meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Sochi. This is reported by Lragir.am, citing RIA Novosti.
“Aliyev said that this meeting was very productive; it resolved the issue of building a railway and highway along the Arax River. There is also material about the highway to Iğdır; this will be a successful step in resolving the issue of Nakhichevan, as well as for traveling through Armenia, and people will be able to pass through and transport goods,” said Erdogan, after his visit to Turkmenistan. His words were quoted by the Kanal 7 television station.
Erdogan recalled Turkey’s proposal to hold negotiations in the “3+3” format regarding the regulation of issues in the Transcaucasus. “We had previously proposed creating a ‘platform of six’ — Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran and, if possible, Georgia,” he stated.
Let us recall that the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took place last Friday in Sochi and lasted about three hours. In particular, the leaders agreed to advance the instruments for delimitation and demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan by the end of the year, and to take steps to raise the level of stability and security on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
At the end of the meeting, it was announced that further details would be published in the near future, but outside the three parties, Turkey was the first to convey information about this meeting.
