The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party’s regular 29th General Delegate Assembly convened in the capital city of Yerevan, on May 25-28, 2023.
Authorized representatives of the ADL’s worldwide chapters participated in this supreme legislative assembly.
At the conclusion of its three-day proceedings, the Assembly reached a series of decisions regarding important issues of direct concern to the Armenian people and the ADL.
In this regard, the following communiqué is published:
- The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party’s not only radical goal, but also its very creed, has been and remains unqualified and devoted service to our people and homeland. Proceeding from the present turbulent conditions, our primary focus is the security of our homeland-dwelling people and the inviolability of our homeland’s borders. The ADL, as always, expresses its unconditional support to the homeland’s statehood, in the service of its strengthening and sovereign endurance. The ADL is also unequivocally zealous that the well-being and dignified livelihood of our sisters and brothers residing in the homeland be permanently guaranteed, as well as our people’s absolute and undeniable right to live in an environment of equal rights and free of corruption. The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party will spare no effort in continuously supporting the prosperity of all spheres of the homeland, but especially the ever-growing strengthening of the Armenian army.
- It is evident that, with clear genocidal aspirations, Azerbaijan continuously fabricates provocations to subject the Armenians of Artsakh to severe deprivations. The Delegate Assembly calls upon the entire Armenian nation to give unconditional and full support to heroic Artsakh, so that the depopulation of our sacred historic homeland be fundamentally prevented. It is the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party’s unshakable conviction that the Artsakh issue must be resolved on the basis of the principles of human rights and the sacred right of peoples to self-determination, and that in the negotiations seeking a solution, the direct participation of Artsakh’s official representation must necessarily be ensured.
- The Party reaffirms its belief in the unwavering faith of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, wishing that it may always remain in its traditional role and mission of bestowing spiritual leadership upon our people.
- The ADL remains, with renewed determination, a faithful soldier of the sacred mission of pursuing the Armenian Cause and Armenian claims. In this regard, by decision of the Delegate Assembly, the Party’s comprehensive forces shall be multiplied and further intensified, striving not only to reach the unanimous recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by the international community, but also the full restoration of all our national rights, being deeply convinced that right is born from the successful manifestations of power. It is fully understandable that, at the behest of various factors, the Republic of Armenia shall make decisions in this direction, taking certain circumstances into consideration. However, the Armenian diaspora is not subject to any limitation or restraint. It is the ADL’s firm conviction that with a dual-pronged, yet coordinated strategy, desirable results can be achieved.
- For the pursuit of the Armenian Cause, but also for the Republic of Armenia, the diaspora Armenians are an irreplaceable wealth, who, in their majority, perceive the mother homeland, Artsakh, the kindred people residing in the homeland, and absolutely everything connected with their present and future, with unreserved love, boundless compassion and affection. The multifaceted and persistently stable support that the Armenian diaspora has provided and will provide is the most authentic guarantee for our homeland. And to keep the Armenians abroad active and vibrant, it is necessary to consistently seek and implement ever-changing, productive methods of national preservation. As in the previous century, the sacred labors of Armenian preservation and proper national education constitute the ADL’s primary focuses and commitments.
- A people’s language is undoubtedly its greatest wealth. It is certainly gratifying that Eastern Armenian is the living expression of our homeland-dwelling people, faithfully serving in their daily life, and deserving of every care and encouragement at the state level. Whereas Western Armenian, by the tragic arrangement of events, is scattered to the four corners of the world and is perpetually subject to inevitable distortion. The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party firmly reaffirms that it shall spare no effort so that the terrifying alarm of Western Armenian’s irreparable loss never sounds. Because, apart from all other data and considerations, Western Armenian is also the living witness of our territorial and other claims, and its constant and unyielding reminder.
- More than ever, today it is vitally necessary for us to ensure complete national unity. It is urgently necessary that we unite, so that we may collectively Sardarapat against all kinds of threats and calamities confronting us. Therefore, for the resolution of any national issue, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party is fully prepared to cooperate with any organization or structure in the homeland or abroad that shares the same concerns.
- The ADL expects from the homeland’s authorities that clear programs be immediately implemented, aimed at inspiring our homeland-dwelling people with national pride and genuine hope and faith in our country’s bright and stable future. It also expects that conditions be created and all necessary measures be taken to prevent the phenomenon of emigration, which constitutes a worrying trend, considering it a danger threatening the very existence of the homeland, and in this regard, it calls upon the collective vigilance of the Armenian people to halt, with every possible effort, that dangerous and dreadful process.
- Appreciating the outgoing ADL Central Board and all its devoted activities during the past four years, overcoming many known difficulties, the ADL Delegate Assembly concluded its work by electing the Party’s new Central Board.
This historic session was concluded with the renewal of that sacred covenant to which the ADL is a soldier, and by greeting all the Party’s members and supporters without exception, greeting the homeland and the entire Armenian nation.
