The U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, Lynne Tracy, believes that the consequences of the recent war in Nagorno-Karabakh have not been overcome, and the conflict is not resolved, because the question of Nagorno-Karabakh’s status is still unresolved.
“We will work as co-chair of the Minsk Group, striving from those positions for the de-escalation of the situation, the elimination of incidents, so that it becomes possible to consider the remaining issues — the final settlement of the consequences of the war and the other problems,” — according to Armenpress, Lynne Tracy said during a conversation with journalists in the Syunik Province.
Referring to questions concerning security and border incidents, Tracy noted that she has expressed her opinion on them, and positions have also been voiced several times by the U.S. State Department: “Perhaps you know that in July I visited one of the border sections of the Gegharkunik Province, where incidents were being recorded, and I want to state clearly that we are calling for the de-escalation of the situation and for an end to the violence as quickly as possible,” Lynne Tracy noted.
The Ambassador stressed that the resolution of these issues is very important, especially because civilians find themselves in the midst of the conflict and their safety and security are endangered, therefore, taking all this into account, the resolution of these issues demands urgency.
