The President of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, has declared that “the Defense Army, as a sign of our goodwill, will not target those enemy military installations that are located in Talishistan and Lezgistan.” Harutyunyan wrote this on his Facebook page, addressing his Talysh and Lezgin brothers and sisters.
“Dear Talysh and Lezgin brothers and sisters, we are closely following the internal political developments taking place in Azerbaijan, particularly the day-by-day growing protest in Azerbaijan’s Talysh-populated and Lezgin-populated towns and villages, through which the population is boycotting Aliyev’s order to be drafted into the army and to fight against Artsakh and Armenia. The presence of hundreds of Talysh and Lezgin victims has become the occasion for the protest demonstrations. The Azerbaijani political practice of ethnic cleansing, using them as living targets and ridding itself of them through that practice, has not changed over the decades,” the president wrote.
Arayik Harutyunyan added that Artsakh attaches importance to the indigenous peoples of Azerbaijan — the Talysh and the Lezgins — deeply understanding the Artsakh issue, as well as to their constant expressions of sympathy.
“I want to assure you that we stand by the side of the just struggle of the Talysh and Lezgin peoples and are ready to contribute by all possible means to the ultimate goal of your struggle — the attainment of independence. The Defense Army, as a sign of our goodwill, will not target those enemy military installations that are located in Talishistan and Lezgistan,” Harutyunyan noted.
